Brother Dusks Return Me to Me
20 yards to the left of my house, I shifted into my old self, And broke the crust of conformity's crutch, And gazed on potential's pelt.
I walked slow in the cool of the evening, When the day's demands fell slough, And sat down on a city curb, And watched the steady stream of thoughts perturb, So gentle-ly run off.
The curvature of land and sky, My smiling eyes could not deny, Tree and cloud and deep blue canopy, All as satisfied as me,
Their own demands giving way, As nighttime's lax rewards their day's achieve, And suddenly with silent inter-scend, We both drank in our earned reprieve.
My soul soothed by the knowing, That brother dusks have not disappeared, And simply shown their ease of assembly, I trade for solemn hope yesterday's fears.
