Spheres of Peace, Spangled in Birdsong
Calm early morning offers the choice, To focus attention on passing thoughts, Or simply be a calm early morning.
The rushing demands of the workaday life, Seep in by any means,
Crows, sparrows, raptor birds, In a war of attrition, Noisily alert and divebomb the treeline, In attempt to steal egg, The embryo of new life, Don't let them.
Instead, side with the lark and chickadee, and mourning dove, Who coo and whistle in the dawn,
Their joy and lamentation are noble steps up, From conflict, chaos, and concern, They are twin sides of Love's call, And the heart's reward for peace of mind.
Feel the space between their calls, As the relax of a furrowed mind, The stretching of wings of perception, A head the size of a corner lot.
Safety journeys through the blood, With the euphoria of morning coffee, When grog and scatter, Become a coherent matter, And stillness outs its ring.
What luck today, to remember, "Bird song over chatter", To grow bigger than the latter, And let space and quiet sing.
